Former CPI (M) MLA Haricharan Sarkar dies at 74
Former CPI(M) MLA from Bamutia assembly constituency and senior CPI (M) leader Haricharan Sarkar breathed his last at GB Hospital at the age of 74.
He had been admitted to the hospital in critical condition recently, who was suffering from ailments due to diabetic and other diseases and after a hard battle for life passed away Thursday afternoon. Haricharan Sarkar was an MLA of the state assembly in 1977, 1983, 1993, 2008 and in 2013 elections .
CPI(M) through a press statement said that late Sarkar was a leader of the party’s scheduled caste front , the ‘SC co-ordination committee’ and had actively performed important organizational duties . Having lost the 2018 assembly polls he was not keeping good health and fell seriously sick recently while getting admitted to GB Hospital.
The state secretary of the CPI (M) Jitendra Chowdhury and other senior party leaders have condoled his death, describing him as a faithful soldier of the party. There is an air of mourning in the entire Bamutia assembly constituency over the death of Haricharan Sarkar.
